Hey, I'm Hannah! Growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin, I spent countless hours combing the beach, searching for the smooth, colorful treasures of sea glass. What started as a childhood hobby quickly became a deep passion, and over the years, my love for sea glass evolved into creating unique, handmade jewelry.
For the past five years, I’ve been designing and crafting jewelry, selling primarily at local markets. While I am the artist behind every piece, my family has been an essential part of the journey, helping me sell and share my work at these markets. It's truly a labor of love that brings us all together.
As I traveled to different shores around the world and lived in different areas, I continued my search for sea glass, collecting pieces from coastlines that hold their own special memories. Each piece of glass I find tells a story, and I feel lucky to be able to transform them into wearable works of art.
At the heart of my business is sustainability. Why Lionfish Jewelry Co?
The name Lionfish Jewelry Co comes from a powerful experience I had on a diving trip. While exploring the depths, I learned about the negative environmental impact of the Lionfish species, which has been invasive in many parts of the world. Despite its harmful presence, the Lionfish is undeniably beautiful, a striking creature of the sea. Once hunted, Lionfish can be a great dish to eat.
This duality of destruction and beauty reminded me of sea glass. Once discarded and seen as trash, sea glass is transformed over time into something stunning and valuable when handled with care. Just like the Lionfish, sea glass carries with it a story of change, beauty, and potential. I hope to honor that story with each piece of jewelry I create.
